FULL DAY WORKSHOPS
Denise Hopper - SCARVES TO DYE FOR
To produce 2 scarves using two different dyeing techniques.
1) Freely applying steam fix dyes to a scarf stretched onto a frame, allowing dyes to flow and resist each other. The dyes can be juxtaposed to create a pattern or floral images. Water marks can be added when dry if desired.
2) Arashi or pole dyeing method. By folding & wrapping scarf around a plastic pole, then applying dyes with pipettes,
thus creating the characteristically arashi patterns.

discussing the use of colour and materials. Working with paper, paints and pencils you will generate enough
designs on this day to last you for years to come.
Margaret Dunning - TWO FOR ONE
Painting through silk chiffon or georgette onto canvas, drawing and painting directly onto the chiffon and canvas using thickened fibre reactive dyes, layering colours
in a wet in wet process to enable shades to blend. Any design can be used; abstract, flowers, fruit or
geometric - your flair and imagination can run wild, or if you need more direction we can do that, too. The results
will be a fabulous scarf and painted canvas which makes an equally fabulous bag.
